Have you ever reached a point in your meditation practice when you think: “I’m a failure. My mind was all over the place.” Or you’ve been practicing well for some time and then begin to feel that nothing is happening in your meditation, and you don’t feel like doing it and have to drag yourself to the cushion?  Even if you haven’t meditated enough to be frustrated, this retreat is suitable for you if you just feel like taking some time off for gentle meditation, or if you’re just curious. Beginners are welcome!

“Recollective Awareness” was developed by Jason Siff, author of Unlearning Meditation and Thoughts are Not the Enemy.  I am currently doing teacher training with Jason and I’d like to share what I’ve learned with you.

You will be encouraged, if you wish, to journal about your sittings, ask questions, and discuss your practice with me individually. If you are able to have a silent retreat in your personal space you may do so, or you can go about your day interacting with others as necessary. There will be a retreat schedule which will be much like what you are used to with specific times for group sittings, Q & A, instruction and interviews.

The retreat will officially begin at 7 pm Friday and end at noon on Sunday.

COST:  $25 registration fee.  This will reserve your place in the retreat and cover incidental expenses associated with our retreats.  Please request a scholarship if you are unable to afford this fee.

Optional donation:   Tri-State Dharma invites you give a donation to support Transfiguration Spirituality Center if you can afford to do this.  Click Here to donate.  Due to the Covid pandemic, Transfiguration has been closed since March and is unable to host retreats, including this one.

Wendy Eisner has been practicing insight (Vipassana) meditation since 2002. She is an active member and corresponding secretary of Tri-State Dharma. Co-founder and co-teacher (with Mary Ellen Landolina) of Tri-State’s Northern Kentucky meditation group, she recently completed the Community Dharma Leaders program at Spirit Rock Meditation Center, California, a two-year training program for teachers in the Buddhist Theravada tradition. She has taken Matthew Flickstein’s Vipassana meditation teacher training course.  Wendy also has a Ph.D. in archaeology and environmental science, has done research in Arctic Alaska for over 30 years, and is professor emeritus at the University of Cincinnati, OH.

It is Tri-State Dharma’s mission to make retreats available to meditators from Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana and beyond. To make these retreats affordable to all who wish to attend, the fees for each retreat are slightly less than the minimum amount needed to cover our expenses. This does not take into account the scholarships that we give for almost all retreats. If you are in a position to do so, please consider making a donation to Tri-State Dharma at the end of the retreat to help us continue this work. Thank you.

If you must cancel, please let us know as soon as possible.  THERE ARE NO REFUNDS FOR THIS RETREAT.

The cost of the retreat covers only Tri-State Dharma’s expenses. Meditation teachers in this tradition are able to continue their work through Dana, or generous, voluntary giving by students. At retreat’s end, students have an opportunity to practice Dana by offering contributions. There is no specific contribution amount expected; give what feels right.   Please think of this as an integral part of practice.

To request a scholarship please Click Here to send an e-mail to Tri-State Dharma. No one will be turned away for lack of ability to pay.

If you cannot register using PayPal, please call Barb Huels at (513) 307-5343 to get instructions to pay by check.
