The oldest meaning of the word dharma is nature or natural law, and humans beings, at our very essence, are nature – we are not separate. How much effort is required to access this nature? What did the Buddha mean by right effort? In this retreat we will explore the relationship between dharma and nature through sitting and walking meditation as well as through contemplation of the Dharma. The intention will be to leave this retreat with a more clear understanding of what effort looks like, moving forward in daily life and practice.

Retreat:  $200
LOCATION:  Transfiguration Spirituality Center, Glendale, OH

Adam Stonebraker has been practicing and studying meditation in various schools since 1999, and began teaching meditation, mindfulness, and yoga in 2010. He is a teacher and leadership council member with Sacred Mountain Sangha (Thanissara & Kittisaro’s teaching organization) and leads teacher trainings, retreats, and workshops internationally, in yin yoga, meditation, and mindfulness.

Adam is a graduate of Sacred Mountain Sangha’s 2-year Dharmapala Training and is a graduate and endorsed teacher with the Insight Yoga Institute. In addition, Adam earned his MA in Mindfulness Studies from Lesley University.

Adam is committed to an all-inclusive dharma, where no aspect of the human experience is left out. He has particular interest in the transformative power of the natural world, inter-faith dialogue, and the bodhisattva way of life.

It is Tri-State Dharma’s mission to make retreats available to meditators from Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana and beyond. To make these retreats affordable to all who wish to attend, the fees for each retreat are slightly less than the minimum amount needed to cover our expenses. This does not take into account the scholarships that we give for almost all retreats. If you are in a position to do so, please consider making a donation to Tri-State Dharma at the end of the retreat to help us continue this work. Thank you.

Payments are your way of saving space for the retreat. If you must back out of the retreat, we will refund half of the payment if you cancel 4 weeks or more prior to the start of the retreat. If you cancel less than 4 weeks prior to the start of the retreat, we will retain the entire payment.   Thank you for not asking for the full payment back.

The cost of the retreat covers room and board and Tri-State Dharma’s expenses. Meditation teachers in this tradition are able to continue their work through Dana, or generous, voluntary giving by students. At retreat’s end, students have an opportunity to practice Dana by offering contributions. There is no specific contribution amount expected; give what feels right.   Please think of this as an integral part of practice.

To request a scholarship please Click Here to send an e-mail to Tri-State Dharma. No one will be turned away for lack of ability to pay.
