Rashid Hughes – Restorative Justice Specialist, SchoolTalkDC;  Co-Founder, Heart Refuge Mindfulness Community;  Certified Mindfulness & Yoga Teacher;  www.rashidhughes.com

Please join Rashid Hughes for this online retreat experience. Through practice and dialogue, Rashid will carry participants through an experiential exploration of his contemplative practice, the Four Pillars of R.E.S.T.

The Four Pillars of R.E.S.T. is a rest-centered approach to meditation that seeks to provide people who feel tired and weary with an accessible path to fully realizing and embodying liberation in the face of the relational, historical, social dimensions of what it means to be human. Each Pillar of R.E.S.T. is meant to skillfully reconnect us to the source of who we essentially are, acknowledge what makes meditation difficult, and live our lives in service to the well being of all beings.

This Program is appropriate for all; both new and experienced practitioners are welcomed.

First Pillar of R.E.S.T., Relax the Attention & Release

  • an experiential overview of how relaxing our attention and resting in awareness is a direct way to reconnect with the inherent freedom and happiness found in just being.

Second Pillar of R.E.S.T., Exhale All Striving, Empty

  • an experiential overview of what it means to be free of the constant energy of striving, and to abide effortlessly in the freedom of awareness.

Third Pillar of R.E.S.T., Sense the Silence, Surrender

  • an experiential overview of how our silent aware presence is an accessible portal into peace in our everyday lives and during formal meditation

Fourth Pillar of R.E.S.T., Tune In To Awareness, Trust

  • an experiential overview of how trust directly reveals that the unchanging presence of awareness is not separate from who we always and essentially are.
